1000 Mile Mom

It's not just a goal… it's a lifestyle adjustment!

Day 123: July 30, 2013- Rain, rain, go away!

Day 123: 6 miles logged, 195.25 miles to go… 4 mile after work run in the rain followed by a 2 mile walk after dinner with Bobby.

Am enjoying our week without the kiddos (although it looks like they are doing just fine without me),

but do miss them tremendously. Glad they are having a fun time up at my mom and Steve’s, but can’t wait to see them on FRI! Hard at work on Buddy Walk stuff. Can’t wait to share more details on our SAT, OCT 5th Walk and newly added 5K event!!!

On a different note, this was our little visitor at the State Farm office from this morning. He stunned himself a bit running into our front window, but thankfully he flew off a few minutes later.

Day 121: July 28, 2013- I love to write!!!

Day 121: 10 miles logged, 211.25 miles to go… 2 mile morning run, 6 mile morning walk with Cate, and then an additional 2 miles logged in the late afternoon//early evening before Bob got home from his trip. Treated myself to a Wendy’s frosty for the hard work, and was happy at how many words I got typed on my manuscript. Pleasant end to an all too short weekend! 12,000+ words over the course of SAT and SUN. Slowly but surely inching towards my 85,000 word goal- Woot! Woot! ‪ WC to date = 72,023

Day 109: July 15, 2013- Playing catch-up for y’all…

Day 109: 37.11 miles logged (MON, JULY 1 through yesterday…yeah, I’m a little behind posting- sorry!), 290.33 miles to go… OK, now that Trucks & Heroes is done, I am back in the saddle with my running- have gotten up at 5:45am yesterday and today to put myself back in the habit of early morning runs. Looking forward to keeping it up to wrap up these last couple of hundred miles!

Here are some of the highlights since I last posted… Trucks & Heroes was super successful, I am trying to better balance my home life, work, and personal endeavors (a.k.a. had to put the blog posting and writing to the back burner for a little bit to make a gesture), I have had some of the most hellacious migraines ever over the past two weeks, and it is now time to put both my Buddy Walk and fall bridal show caps on to move forward with both of those projects… oh, and I got the green light to teach my art class at Hobby Lobby! Super excited!

Day 89: June 25, 2013- Hot day to run so far!

Day 89: 10.25 miles logged, 351.55 miles to go… 4 mile morning run, 6 mile evening run/walk on the East side of Evansville. Morning spent at the kids’ sculpture class,

944436_10152004785354447_1368318915_n  1013901_10152004785579447_1382563574_n  1013725_10152004890304447_892142019_n  947145_10152004858589447_631147829_n  1048374_10152004824134447_1634827292_o

afternoon at the office working and preparing for a JLE meeting with one of my committee chairs to go over our plan for the upcoming year. Had the opportunity to go run/walk after work while Mia was at cheer. So spent the time enjoying the east side and working on the plot line development for my manuscript. Lots of miles = great opportunity for creative brainstorming!

Day 82: June 18, 2013- Hellacious migraine, but a ray of sunshine

Day 82: .05 miles logged, 398.32 to go… Measly half mile walked due to a hellacious morning migraine, a combination of poison ivy and a busy day, AND an awful evening migraine. On the bright side, though, I received the best pick-me-up note from fellow artist Susan Fowler. I am an over-the-top try and do nice things for people kind of person, but it’s not everyday that the whole random acts of kindness thing happens to me. So, yeah, I was a little bummed yesterday that I couldn’t run due to the poison ivy. However, I knew the moment I laid eyes on the envelope who it was from, and Susan’s creativity and thoughtfulness totally brightened my day!

So for that Susan, I thank you! It’s nice to meet a kindred spirit, and I look forward to getting to know you better!

Day 80: June 16, 2013- Happy Father’s Day!!!

Day 80: 8.05 miles logged, 406.84 to go… 6 mile SUN 6am Challenge walk with Debbie (we so miss Cate!!!). Check out this little guy we spotted along the way…

walk frog

followed by a 2 mile run afterwards. Ok… do I know how to pack in a day??! Following my walk and run, took sis to the Convenient Care to get her sprained wrist diagnosed,

1011188_10151983492029447_186322200_n

then off to Denny’s for breakfast with the in-laws,

Superman at Stadium 16 to continue my father-in-law’s Father’s Day celebration, then on to Burdette Pool with the kiddos.

1013698_10151984282029447_336770035_n

By then my head was splitting from the weather change and the sun, so I squeezed in an hour catnap when we got home, and then for the fun part… laundry and house picking up in preparation for Bob’s return home, that and making a red velvet cake and peanut butter brownies to add to our Father’s Day goodies for him!!! Excited that he made it home safely and that my family is all back together!

Ended the night taking the girls back to my house for a slumber party while Debbie kept the boys as part of Julien’s birthday celebration.

Stayed up late working on engagement pics and a Chemo Buddy shoot while I watched Confessions of a Wallflower. Can’t believe the speed at which the weekends fly by!

Day 78: June 14, 2013- Rummage sale finds and the start of baseball season

Day 78: 2.0 miles logged, 422.91 to go… My 2 mile morning run was the perfect start to a relatively low key day. The highlight was my awesome rummage sale find, three vintage acrylic pins that I discovered at the Ressurection Church Rummage Sale for $.50/each!!! I love and collect these fun pieces of fashion history. They make the perfect accents on plain colored tops, and they are great conversation pieces : )

20130614_175318

Anyway, my in-laws took the kids for the day, so after some errands in the morning, I manned the office by myself for the afternoon since Jon had his state high school baseball game to umpire and Bob headed out of town for the first Razorback baseball games of the season.

20130614_072927

After work, I went to Cooper’s final tournament ball game of the season,

20130614_184436

hit up the movie and grocery store, and then headed home to watch Safe Haven and clean my bedroom. Went to bed a little later than I thought would, but hit the pillow knowing that I got a lot done! Hope my SAT is just as productive!

Day 77: June 13, 2013- My crazy busy life…

Day 77: 6.02 miles logged, 424.91 to go… Love my busy days, but this one took the cake… 2 miles before work (one walked with Bob), BNI meeting, sculpture class with Coop,

7239_10151977465419447_1165112161_n  7463_10151977465534447_1579793692_n

PPT designed, office work, afternoon meeting, Junior League informational meeting,

Recruitment Committee

and then home to clean the house for the arrival of our baseball players. The day would not be complete without additional miles, though, so squeezed in a 10:30pm 4 mile run… gotta love late night cooler temps! Nice end to a long day!

Day 74: June 11, 2013- Art, more art, and cookies…

Day 74: 7.52 miles logged, 443.00 to go… Two mile walk with Bob to start my day, 1.5 miles logged mid-day, and 4 mile run to end my night. Have the privilege of attending scuplture class with the kids this week, so I got to help Cooper start on the plaster part of his mask

20130610_110106 20130610_105642 20130610_104922

and help Mia sketch out her design. Not quite sure where the rest of the day went at the office. We weren’t tremendously busy, but the afternoon just flew by. Taught Art Smart at the SMILE Center,

20130610_185848 20130610_182458

and then headed home to make dinner (spaghetti), run, and then wrap up the evening making oatmeal craisin cookies.

20130611_080412

Looking forward to a busy week of presentation and Junior League stuff, so I’d better sign off! Hope you have a fantastic week as well!!!
